Hi

Can anybody figure out what i am doing here with this tube.

The final product is stronger and lighter

Wrapping it with some sort of fibreglass? Although it looks like cotton..?

If you look at the cotton you will notice tiny spots, waste epoxy you don’t need on
A body tube, it only adds mass.
This tube has one layer of fiberglass mat on and one layer of release
By adding pressure on the cotton, the cotton presses the release film which has pinholes in. All the waste epoxy drains through to the cotton.
After curing remove the cotton and release
A nice smooth surface and it cost me R 15

3 Questions:

1.The release, what material is it made off?
2.Is there a certain pattern for the holes?
3.What keeps the fibreglass from sticking to the tube/mold?

That is if I got the whole thing right.

I triad normal book cover plastic but wrinkles appeared, the thing that works is called rap (3M)

No need for certain patterns, I prick about 1cm holes apart with a needle on the plastic film
I prep the tube with sandpaper and apply epoxy to bind into .After that a little sanding and
Start with the kitchen bagging. Just like John Coker’s website but I use normal electrical tape and

Would this be the same pallet wrap? Its the plastic used to wrap goods on a pallet before shipping. It is about 20 microns thick.

Benn,  the overhead projector transparent film, that works the best for me now days
I use it just like it is ,no pin holes .I start the tape from the middle of the tube
and work all the small bubble's out to the ends .
After curing and tape  removed the film rolls  back in its origanal shape .

The end result a nice mirror like body tube   Tube with tape on
