I have a question for David. You said you are busy with a new altimeter with 3 outputs. Are they fully programable ie. can you program one of the outputs to ignite the second stage when the acceleration stops on the first stage? Also is it possible to do this with v1.2?

It will definitely be possible with the AIM XTRA.

The AIM USB could do a separation based on altitude or time, and should be able to perform pretty well for stagging.

As for the release date - expect a complete tested system before the end of the year (sooner than we think).

Hardware design: 100%
Component sourcing: 95%
Firmware: 25%
Software: 15%

In the meantime i will go for the AIM USB time function on line A and line B for the chute at appogee

That will eliminate the risk for post ignition on a murcury switch

Now to estamate the input time  for second stage ignition.

I know the burntime for the HOT I epoxy motor ,but will the AIM USB sens it on time to start the clock

After reading through the posts on this topic I found that many of the problems we envisioned have dissapeared.  Maching of parts is no longer the problem it used to be.  Marjo, the GHPR chairman, has the machining sorted for us.

As for electronics, materials and design, I believe we are ready to start with this project.

What is still needed?  Funding.  We need to come up with practical ways of raising the funds needed and soon.

There is a "market" at Menlyn Park.  Who can help?

Working on prices I have for materials, may be out of date, around R20000.  The cost price for the propellant is about R1800 and we need one set to test and one to fly.

I just spoke to Marjo and he will sponsor the machining.

I believe David will still be in for the Altimeters and maybe the GPS locator.

Rian will most likely be available for the GPS as well, perhaps having two systems may be a good idea.

I will do the airframe, nosecone and parachutes.

One big change though.  Single stage, not a 2-stage as initially thought.  Less hassles, no staging, single recovery system, one recovery point, etc.

We can go 2-stage for the next altitude.
